On August 4, 2016 officers from the Cleveland Division Of Police 3rd District teamed up with The Cleveland Police Foundation for the annual Cops For Kids Fishing Event held at Wildwood Park. The kids chosen to participate were from the Cleveland Boys and Girl’s Club, and also students from John Adams High School. It was a beautiful day for fishing as the kids were gathered for a briefing by Bob Knox of the Passion For Fishing group who discussed safety, and fishing techniques to be used on the boats. The kids and officers then boarded both the Linda Mae, and Express fishing boats and headed east out of the marina with hopes of catching a bunch of Lake Erie Perch. After about 3 hours of fishing both boats returned and all participants enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by The Cleveland Police Foundation, and cooked by Community Policing Captain Keith Sulzer. Upon completion of lunch the kids got to visit with officers from the Mounted Unit, K-9 Unit, and also S.W.A.T. after which all posed for a group picture before calling it a day. Although not many fish were caught it was a day that the kids and officers would remember for a long time. A Big Thank-You goes out to Lt. Kevin Coleman, and the Third District Officers, as well as the Mounted Unit, K-9, S.W.A.T. , Captain Sulzer, and of course all the kids who participated.
