On Wednesday, December 21st, students from St. Mark’s School came to the Second District to sort donations collected from the annual Sock and Underwear Drive. Captain Hamm addressed the students before they began sorting, and they also received a brief overview on the issue of homelessness in Cleveland. A major share of these donations went to Onix Outreach, who provides families of police officers with supplies for care packages that they assemble, which are distributed by police officers to people experiencing homelessness around the Cleveland area. Thank you to everyone who supported this effort, with a special thanks to the students of St. Ignatius High School, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, St. Brendan School (North Olmsted) and St. Thomas More School (Brooklyn), who donated a significant portion of the socks and underwear.
