Young people engaged with Cleveland law enforcement officers and the Public Safety Recruitment Team for mentoring opportunities. An unintended benefit to the mentoring project was the positive impact on the violence interrupters, who are ex-felons and strong voices in our community. The session was a significant step in building trust with one of our most vulnerable and disconnected population.
CPF coordinator Angela Thi Bennett spoke about mentoring and respecting each other’s values. Soon to come are incentives to reward mentees for their participation (i.e., attendance, contacts with mentors, achieving goals, etc.)…..thank you Larry Doby grant!
