I attended the first Mowing with the Cops effort this past Saturday at the home of Ms. Nolen located in the 2nd District. On hand to spruce up her yard were 2nd District Officers, Lt. Maffo-Judd, McNulty, Angelino and Banks. Also on hand to assist was Ward 13 Councilman Kris Harsh.
This program began with a donation from Rodney Smith representing a non-profit called Raising Men and Women, and his intention was to have the police and community work together. He provided a lawnmower—equipped with a light bar and stickers—and presented it to the Cleveland Police Foundation who then donated a weed-wacker and blower to be used. Council members are now being notified to provide names of residents in their wards that need assistance with yard work.
A big thank you goes out to the officers that assisted on this day and any officers city wide that would like to help in the future please contact Lt. Tim Maffo.
