CPF Provides Boxing Ring for PAL Youth Program

It was a festive mood at Estabrook Recreation Center on Monday, December 15, 2014 as the highly anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony took place for the new boxing ring donated to the PAL Youth Boxing Program by the Cleveland Police Foundation.

Approximately 20 of Coach Johnny Nieves’ most promising boxers were on hand for the dedication. In lieu of training, they shared pizza, Gatorade and getting to know the CPF staff.

Prior to cutting the ribbon, Coach Nieves stated, “This ring will provide the motivation needed for these kids to pursue their dream of becoming professional boxers.” The ribbon was then cut and all got to witness some of the boxers showing their style. Even the CPF’s own Kathy Delaney entered the ring and got some pointers from Coach Johnny.

Assistant Coach James Parks said it best, “We want these kids to achieve their goals, and have access to the tools needed to do that, so thank you Cleveland Police Foundation.”

On behalf of the CPF, thank you all in the PAL Boxing Program at Estabrook RC for the opportunity to help these great coaches and aspiring boxers. It was our pleasure!
