The Cleveland Police Foundation got involved in helping an Ohio City family provide a better Christmas for a special set of triplets from the Whitfield-Smith family. Donations to the Cleveland Police Foundation from our “Secret Santa,” Channel 3 News, Councilman Cimperman, Second District Community Relations Committee, and Cleveland Police officers made this Christmas special for this family. Here is a bit of their story and a link to a “Gofundme” account for the family.
“Kassara along with her brothers Lorenzo and Antonio and her mother, Jo, went through a really difficult time last year. Their Dad passed away suddenly leaving them in a one parent family. They struggled to pull their family back together and to be strong, moving to Ohio City, changing schools and finding a new fit for their lives. Sadly they were struck by tragedy again in October. Their mom, Jo, was hit suddenly with a severe asthma attack during the triplets’ birthday party. She slipped into a coma and later passed away.
The triplets are now living with their maternal grandparents who are doing everything they can to help the children through this difficult time of sadness and loss. The addition of three new lives to care for has not been easy but they are managing and providing a loving and caring home.”
