This past Thursday marked the 41st Anniversary of the ‘Cops, Kids and Christmas’ annual event held at Ronald McDonald House. Officers from across the city came together to hand out toys to kids from around the world who are dealing with health issues and staying at the facility.
The program started in 1982 when CPD Officer John Thomas’s son, Jim, was having health issues and was treated at the Cleveland Clinic. John, along with some officers from his platoon, gathered presents and delivered them to the kids in the hospital so that they could have a Christmas they would remember for a long time.
This year was no different, as officers handed out presents to the kids, sang Christmas Carols, and everyone enjoyed a visit from old Saint Nick himself. A big thank you goes out to all the officers that attended, including Chief Drummond, Cleveland Police Foundation’s Executive Director Rick DeChant, and the staff at Ronald McDonald House. We hope to see you all next year.
