It was a true battle of public servants this past week as members of Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire played softball at legendary League Park. It was also for a good cause as members of both teams and fans were asked to bring canned goods to donate to St. Herman’s House of Hospitality.
Mayor Justin Bibb was present to throw out the first pitch and Team Cleveland Fire came out on top 17-9 in a very competitive and enjoyable game. Food was provided by the CPPA and Cleveland Fire Union and the trophy provided by the Cleveland Police Foundation was presented to the winners.
Special thanks go out to longtime neighborhood activist Rose Roy, for helping serve the food, retired Officer Ray Pagor for umpiring and Executive Director Rick Dechant for assisting with the event. Also thanks to all the participants and family that came out and the hope is to make this a yearly event.
