- The Cleveland Police Foundation had the pleasure of attending the James A Garfield School’s newly painted Little Free Library unveiling. CPF, with the help of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Home Depot, installed the library at the school to help promote literacy in our community. Literacy and education are the keys to success in Cleveland. Thank you to Garfield School for making reading fashionable!

- Cleveland Cops for Kids and Community Policing talked safety and a few other fun topics with the pre-k class at Constellation School’s West Side School of the Arts. The kids received a gift bag and some tips on how to survive kindergarten! The police hats they made were a big surprise.

- The Cleveland Police Foundation supported Harvey Rice Schools Back to School Event yesterday to help welcome the students and families.

- Big shout out to Esperanza for giving out over 1,100 backpacks and promoting education!

- The Cleveland Police Foundation and Community Policing attended Open Streets CLE on Saturday on W. 25th St. We partnered with our friends from Vision Yoga hosting a stretch band and yoga class. Resistance training and yoga are wonderful stress relievers and we encourage everyone to participate in some sort of exercise program. Thank you Theresa Gorski and Nicole from Vision Yoga for partnering with CPD!

- Vincent Montague stopped by at Adlai Stevenson Middle School to support educators by giving Cleveland Browns tickets to Ms. E who is the Dean of Students.

- The Cleveland Police Foundation congratulates the 140th CPD Academy and welcomes you to the family!

- Cleveland Police from the 3rd and 5th Districts joined Community Policing at Shay’s Restaurant at E. 40 and St. Clair for Coffee with a Cop. Residents and community members had a chance to talk to officers about safety concerns in their neighborhoods over lunch and a cup of coffee. The Cleveland Police Foundation provided stuffed animals and books for the kids. Great job and a big thanks to Community Relations, Commanders Morris and Johnson, and Shay’s Restaurant for bringing our community together to promote conversation and safety!

- Cleveland Police from Community Policing and the 3rd District joined MidTown Cleveland, Inc. at their Annual Safety Fair and Block Party at E. 46 and Prospect yesterday afternoon. The officers and community had a chance to get to know each other as well as share some safety tips and advice, and the Cleveland Police Foundation and Cleveland EMS were there to pass out toys to the kids! A big thanks to MidTown Cleveland, Inc. for bringing our community together.

- The Cleveland Police Foundation was happy to donate boxes of new clothing to New Beginnings Ministries’ Clothing Giveaway going on tomorrow at 2060 W 65th St. Pastor McCurry and New Beginnings support Cleveland Police and our community and we appreciate everything they do to make Cleveland a better place!

- Cleveland Cops for Kids at MetroHealth visited the kids and families in the Pediatric Unit to spread a little happiness! The First District’s Community Engagement Officers joined Community Policing and had a great time getting to know the kids, families, and staff. Each child received a gift bag and toy thanks to the Cleveland Police Foundation and Wild Republic. We wish all the kids a quick recovery!

- The Cleveland Police Foundation was happy to support the 2018 5th Annual Rumbon Melon held at Roberto Clemente Park led by Angelo Ortiz! CPF donated backpacks to the event which gave away school supplies and books, promoting education, unity, and music. Mr. Ortiz organizes this event for the Latino community and also invites musicians in the community to come together to play and promote their talent. Thank you to Sonia M. Ortiz for assisting CPF at this event!

- The Cleveland Police Foundation and Cops for Kids want to thank retired CPD officer Maurice Hamilton and an anonymous donor for donating several pairs of boxing gloves. The gloves will be donated to Cleveland recreation center youth boxing programs. Thank you Maurice!

- The Cleveland Police Foundation wants to say thank you to our Cleveland Police dispatchers and call takers for donating several boxes of school supplies to Thomas Jefferson International Newcomers Academy. The men and women of our communications unit joined CPF and donated backpacks, paper, notebooks, markers, glue, etc., to the kids and teachers of this very unique school. Thomas Jefferson has nearly 500 children from 43 foreign countries, speaking 23 different languages. Many of the students are refugees and may lack the resources to purchase school supplies. Thank you Commander Cavett, Lt. Lentz, and all of the men and women of communications that are leading by example to promote education and service in our community!

- On Labor Day the spotlight was on Lieutenant Ed Lentz laboring away at The House of Champions on West 47th Street in Cleveland. The House of Champions is the dream of Sister Nanette Zeimet and a collaborative effort between the Sisters of Notre Dame in Chardon, Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, and Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity. The house is an after school refuge for ten children from Metro Catholic, Urban Community, and St Rocco’s. The children will learn a variety of skills and get guidance from volunteers to assist with their homework.

- Fourth District Officers Cook and Graham recently responded to a call for two juveniles robbed of their bike by criminals wielding guns. The officers were so impressed with Justin and Aaron that they wanted to make things right! They reached out to the Cleveland Police Foundation and Cops for Kids and received a bike to replace the stolen one.

- The Cleveland Police Foundation treated the kids from Discovery World’s Summer Camp to ice cream at Kamm’s Corners Ice Cream Company on their last day of summer camp!

- In Captain Keith Sulzer’s many years of being a Cleveland Police officer and working with the Cleveland Police Foundation, he has met his share of celebrities, but at Be My Neighbor Day the captain met a few of the biggest stars ever! Daniel the Tiger, Catarina, and Clifford the Big Red Dog were three of the biggest and nicest stars he’s had the pleasure of meeting!

- Be My Neighbor Day had hundreds of great kids and families for a fun time at the Cleveland Public Library’s Main Branch!

- The 4th District Community Services Unit and Community Engagement Officers were out to support a Backpack Outreach Event at Artha Woods Park hosted by The Meeting Place and Literacy in the Hood. This was another great community driven event to promote education and literacy! Along with giving away free backpacks, there was free food and free haircuts.

- The Cleveland Police Foundation and Community Policing participated in the Walk in Her Shoes Charity Walk on August 16 at the Dive Bar to support the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center. We were joined by our friend Joshua Oliveri from Brothers Before Others – public who not only contributed to this great cause, but walked a mile for the cause in some awesome black leather boots!

- The Cleveland Police Foundation provided lunch for the last day of camp for the YMCA’s Summer Camp. Community Policing and the First District Community Engagement Officers organized a hula-hoop contest and presented prizes to the winners!
