The Annual First District Police Community Relations Awards Ceremony was held at the beginning of November 2017 at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. Commander Daniel Fay of the First District was host to an enthusiastic gathering of the community. Honored were both officers and citizens who went beyond the call of duty to make the First District community a better place to live and work. Also in attendance were Mayor Frank Jackson, Safety Director Michael McGrath and numerous other city dignitaries. Representing the Cleveland Police Foundation were Bob Guttu, board member Nancy Feighan, and neighborhood activist Kim Snyder.
This year’s First District Community Service Award recipients were Detective Maria Matos and Rosemarie Candow of Affordable Florals. After the presentation, Ms. Candow stated, “It was an honor to be part of this ceremony that recognizes our police officers and citizens for the important deeds that they do on a daily basis… and also, thanks to the Cleveland Police Foundation for their effort.”
Upon completion of the awards presentation a delicious meal was provided by the Community Relations Committee. Congratulations to all the recipients from the First District for a job well done and thanks to all who made this event a success.
