Cleveland resident Kris Harsh took to Facebook to share a heartfelt thank-you to Second District officers for their compassionate response to a man in crisis.
“I found a man near Schaaf and Broadview pulling on doors and looking through trash cans,” Harsh wrote. “I asked him if he was OK, and he said, with tears in his eyes, ‘I need baptized.’”
Harsh called the non-emergency line for a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) or co-response unit while offering the man some food and conversation. Within 10 minutes, Cleveland Police arrived.
“The officers were immediately friendly and kind with him,” Harsh shared. “He had slipped out of rehab, was using again, and needed to get his health straightened out. They handled the situation in a non-threatening way, and honestly, this guy needed some help.”
Harsh ended the post with a simple but powerful message: “Thank you, Cleveland Division of Police!”
