Well over 200 children and their families attended our annual Second District Children’s Christmas Party at the OLA/St. Joseph Center on Saturday December 12th.… This event would not have been possible without the generous support of the business community. Thank you to Nestlé Professional for donating the pizza and chips from Pizza Joe’s to feed over 300 people, and thank you to Dave’s Supermarket for donating trays of cookies. Thank you to Dennis McNulty from Catholic Charities for providing the center, and to Sister Corita and Frank Scialabba for your great help with your crew in setting up the event. Thank you to the Tremont Residents Group for beautifully decorating the center. Thank you to Captain Keith Sulzer for your help with the community connections, transportation of toys and help orchestrating the event. Thank you to Commander Tom Stacho for assisting with the logistics of toy storage and transportation, detailing police officers to the event, and for mixing with the attendees. Thank you to Officer Melissa Marquard for doing the craft table and to Barb Reinke for doing the face painting. A huge thank you to the committee volunteers who worked tirelessly taking care of every detail in running this party. This is our signature event, and embodies the true meaning of the Christmas spirit.
