For the fourth consecutive year, the Cleveland Police Foundation partnered with the Western Reserve Land Conservancy to host the Cops/Kids fishing outing at Blue Heron Preserve. Despite the heat and humidity, kids from the Police Athletic League (PAL), the Boys and Girls Club, and Cleveland Recreation Centers joined officers from Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland State, and Geauga County Sheriffs for a day filled with fishing and camaraderie.

The Bluegills and Bass were biting eagerly as kids and officers competed to catch the biggest fish. After a morning of successful fishing, everyone enjoyed a delightful box lunch and a special visit from Santa Claus, who handed out bags full of presents to each child. Additionally, every participant received a bookbag and a brand-new fishing rod, along with an invitation to return next year.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this day special. Bob Guttu from the Cleveland Police Foundation shared his gratitude: “A big thanks to all that participated and thanks for making this day a special one for the kids.”

Megan Quinn, Director of Development at the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, echoed these sentiments in her follow-up: “I am not sure who had more fun, the kids or the police officers. We so appreciate partnering with you on this event and are already looking forward to next June!”

This event continues to be a favorite, fostering connections between kids and officers while creating lasting memories. We look forward to another fantastic outing next year.
