On October 28, 2015 I had the pleasure of attending the 34th Annual City of Cleveland Citizens Fourth District Police Community Relations Awards Ceremony at the Covenant Community Church to present The Cleveland Police Foundation’s Community Service Awards. This event is held every year by the 4th District Community Relations Committee to honor both Officers, and citizens that go beyond the call of duty while performing their jobs. The Cleveland Police Foundation was honored to present Detective Tim Toler #  619, Detective Marcus Saffo #1826, and Detective Michael Kitchen #1316 Community Service Awards for performing their duties in a professional and caring manner, while treating their victims, and witnesses with dignity and respect. We also honored long time Fourth District resident Betty Rodes, who has been actively involved in her community for over 30 years. She is President of the Fullerton Block Club, and has headed up the annual Night -Out Against Crime for the past 13 years. She is also an active member of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Group where I got to meet this special lady when I was on the job. Finally we honored Pastor Viola Brown of the New Zion Church, who not only shows care, and concern for the citizens of the 4th District Community but also the Police Officers as well. This year like every year Pastor Brown will welcome all the 4th District Officers that are working Thanksgiving day to the New Zion Gospel Church for a full course meal. Congratulations to these recipients, and all the fine officers, and citizens that were honored on this night. Also thanks to Mayor Frank Jackson, Safety Director Michael Mcgrath, Chief Calvin Williams, Deputy Chief Deon McCaulley, and City Council Members, Mamie Mitchell, Tony Brancatelli, and Zack Reed, for attending…..Bob Guttu (Cleveland Police Foundation)
