Seltzer School to have a conversation with the 8th grade classes about interaction with police and the issues facing our community. The staff at Marion Seltzer thought this would be an important step in bridging the gap between the kids and the police in the Cudell Neighborhood. The kids, officers, and staff were very open and honest in their discussion, and I believe this was very productive toward improving the relationship between the cops and kids. One common solution brought up by both the cops and kids was for both to simply take the time and smile and say hello to each other. The Guardian Angels and all the officers were very impressed by the kids candor, insightful questions and answers, and especially the respect they showed us. Thank you Principal Denise Urban and Cindy Strickland for the invitation.
